The Exceptional Practice Seminars

#1 Values Clarification – Vision, Purpose, Philosophy

Healthy dental practices achieve their success from a shared purpose-driven vision, and values-based philosophy.

Each team will have the opportunity to:

• Clarify a personal vision and values.
• Begin the process of a shared vision and core values that will guide the day-to-day behavior of the practice.
• Develop a clear vision, purpose, and philosophy statement for the practice.
• Prioritize and establish specific goals, objectives with a time frame.
• Discuss the art of authentic leadership, expectations and decision making best suited for their practice.

#2 Team Development Process

This two-day inter-active workshop will deal with:

• Communications, (verbal, non-verbal, and written); the co-discovery process, and learn interviewing skills.
• The process of developing trusting inter-personal relationships.
• Team selection, development, and self-management; the environment and expectations necessary in the process of empowerment.
• Time management and team meetings.
• One-on-one discussions, doctor to staff and staff to staff, clarifying personal and shared responsibility.
• A process of understanding yourself, your patients and team members utilizing several behavior profiles to enhance inter-personal relationships.

#3 Practice Systems and Process

Systems take your practice from vision to reality. Systems provide a structure and a process that creates synergistic and empowered team members who understand what to do, how to do, when to do, and most important, why it is important to do. Systems should be flexibly rigid to allow empowered team members to act appropriately in changing conditions. This two-day inter-active workshop identifies the seven essential systems that provide consistent and predictable standards of performance.

Each team learns:

• How systems interact and affect each other.
• Each system will have a defined purpose, goals, sequence of procedures, standard of excellence, assigned responsibility, and evaluation of success.
• Each team works to modify, coordinate, and align their systems.
• To implement the changes, the process and determine the time frame to complete the process.
• To discuss commitment, responsibility and accountability, personal and shared.
• To understand how each person’s actions affect the next person and the whole organization.
• To recognize how each system will accomplish the purpose and core values of the practice and health benefits for the patients.

#4 New Patient Experiences and Comprehensive Examination

This is the first and most important appointment to establish caring relationships, nonjudgmental acceptance, and mutual expectations. The purpose of a thorough examination is for the patient and dentist to co- discover the patient’s problems and build a trusting relationship that encourages patients to own their problems and choose health.

In this seminar, participants discuss in detail the importance of:

• The initial patient experience, referral source, first telephone call, office environment, initial contact with the team and doctor.
• The co-discovery interview.
• The comprehensive clinical examination of the entire masticatory system.
• Diagnosis and Treatment Consultation.
• Financial Agreement and Arrangement.
• Post Treatment Consultation – Develop Dental Missionaries

Hands-on Courses

#5 Diagnostic model evaluation/treatment plan: Two day

• Model grooming, facebow record, CR record, protrusive record and mounting on semi-adjustable articulator.
• Functional analysis of occlusion on models.
• Equilibration sequence on models.
• Criteria for completed equilibration.
• Alteration of model to optimum occlusion and aesthetics.
• Treatment plan sequence.
• In-office observation and guidance as you analyze your patient’s functional occlusion and equilibrate his/her teeth.

#6 Principles of tooth preparation: One day

• Anterior and posterior tooth full crown preparation – eight step process – margin placement - healthy pulp – soft tissue management.
• Excellent provisional restorations.
• Systems to ensure consistency and predictability – impressions, die preparation, labial core, incisal edge index, anterior guide table, soft tissue model, facebow, protrusive, and CR record.
